Program Accreditation

The Division of Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) at the University of Alberta is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Education (CACME) and by reciprocity through the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) of the United States to sponsor continuing medical education for family physicians and FRCP specialists.

1. Family Physician Programs

If the target audience for the program or workshop is Family Physicians, you must contact the local chapter of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) directly to apply for accreditation (MainPro-M1 accreditation) if CPL has not been directly involved in the development and implementation of the program. CPL only accredits programs where they have been involved in the development and implementation. If you would like information on workshop and program co-ordination, please contact us for more information.

Please visit the CFPC Alberta Chapter website for more information on accreditation of MainPro-M1.

2. FRCP Specialist Programs

If the target audience for the program or workshop is a RCPSC Fellow, CPL will accredit programs under the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons Maintenance of Certification (MOC – Section 1 / 3), if RCPSC faculty from the University of Alberta are on the program planning committee.

Prior to beginning your application, please ensure your program is eligible for accreditation by referring to these two websites for additional clarification:

A non-refundable application fee of $500 (plus GST, if applicable) is due with the application submission.

Submissions must be received by our office at least 6 weeks prior to the program date. Late submissions will be considered but will be levied a late fee of ($100). Please note, programs cannot be accredited retroactively.
